The the profitable product tanker High Energy

Naikai Zosen Corporation has completed construction of the 45,000DWT product tanker, High Energy (HN: 83), for Diamond Product Tanker S. . at the Setoda Shipyard. The tanker as the maximum permissible beam o go through the Panama Canal and as the double hull construction in ompliance with MARPOL treaty. Cargoes include petroleum products such as light and heavy oils, crude oil, palm oil, etc. The total cargo tank capacity is 54,000m3. Twelve cargo oil tanks and two slop tanks are provided.
Four types of cargoes (four groups) can be loaded simultaneously. The load capacity
is designed to be 25% volume for each tank. Cargoes are unloaded with four electric motor drive screw pumps of 800m3/h capacity. The High Energy has a slender hull to achieve high speed. A high forecastle is provided to prevent the bow from swashing and increases seaworthiness as a high-speed medium range product tanker, attaining energy saving.
Moreover, adoption of a special rudder facilitates ship maneuvering in a narrow port. Thus the ship operation efficiency has increased totally. The accommodation quarters is isolated from the engine casing to decrease noise and vibration. The crew
can enjoy quiet free time at their accommodation quarters.
The overal length of the ship is 179.90 meters and the beam is 32.20 meters. The depth of the ship is 19.25 meters, with maximum allowed draft of 11.65 meters. With this draft the High Energy has deadweight of 46,874 metric tons with gross tonnage of 28,245 GT. This ship has also very good main engine Hitachi-B&W 6S50MCC with full power of 8,530 kW, which gives to the ship maximum speed of 16.1 knots and the cruising speed is 15.7 knots.

The oil tanker Gaia Pegasus

Gaia Pegasus
Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has completed the construction and delivery of Gaia Pegasus (Hull No. 247), an ore carrier for Elara Maritima S.A. at its Imari Shipyard. The vessel is the second of the 229,000 DWT ore carrier series developed and delivered by Namura. The vessel has five cargo holds and nine cargo hatches, with two longitudinal bulkheads in the cargo area. The hatch covers are the onepanel,
double-skin, side rolling type with chains for opening and closing, and each cover is operated by one hydraulic oil motor. The vessel is equipped with a long stroke, low-revolution and fuel-efficient 2-cycle supercharged diesel engine, which drives a
large diameter propeller achieving superior propulsive performance combined with the vessel hull form based on Namura’s latest technology and long experience. Special considerations were also given to safety, safeguards against environmental pollution, labor saving and operational economy.
The measurements of the oil tanker are:
- overal length: 319.58 meters
- beam: 54.00 meters
- depth: 24.30 meters
- draft: 18.10 meters
- Deadweight: 229,186 metric tons
- Gross Tonnage: 113,929 GT

Gladiator was delivered to Tourel Ltd.

Universal Shipbuilding Corporation delivered a Suezmax Tanker, GLADIATOR to Tourel Ltd. at the Tsu shipyard on March 26, 2008. The vessel is designed to carry crude oil
and dirty product, and the 28th vessel of this type built by Universal Shipbuilding
Corporation. The vessel has high deadweight at shallow draft corresponding to the large cargo oil tank capacity, and exibility for port restrictions. The vessel is designed to achieve safe, economical and environment - friendly transportation of
cargo oil. The hull structure is designed for a fatigue life of 30 years (LR FDA Plus). The sophisticated hull form and Surf-Bulb (Rudder Fin with Bulb) achieve very high energy saving. The main engine and generator engine satisfy the IMO environmental requirements and the vapour emission control system meets the USCG regulations.
The measurements of the tanker Gladiator has length of 274.00 meters and length between perpendiculars 263 meters. The beam of the vessel is 48 meters, depth is 22.40 meters and draft is 16.00 meters. The deadweight of the ship is 149,944 metric tons and gross tonnage is 78,845 GT. The loading capacity of Gladiator is 170,046 cubic meters.

The VLCC YUFUSAN

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has completed construction of the 311,389DWT double hull VLCC, YUFUSAN (HN: 1601), for Infinity Shipping Navigation S. A. of Panama at the Chiba Works. YUFUSAN is the second vessel designed with the new hull form called the Mitsui Malacca Doublemax. Both the deadweight and the cargo tank capacity are maximized for efficient transport of crude oil of typical density. In view of ocean and global environmental preservation, the double hull has been applied to both the vessel’s hull and the fuel oil tank of the vessel, for which the
double hull will become mandatory in the future regulations of International Maritime
Organization (IMO). The vessel equips the MIPB-Wing (Mitsui Integrated Propeller Boss with Wing), which is a newly developed device to improve propeller propulsion efficiency. The service speed and fuel oil consumption efficiency have been improved together with both advanced bow and stern form. The main engine adopts the electroniccontrol lubrication system for engine cylinders to decrease ship operation costs, and the steam turbo generating system is also employed, which recovers thermal
energy from the exhaust gas of the main engine. Other installations include the
fixed type flammable gas detecting system arranged in the ballast tanks and the pump room to confirm a safe working environment; GPS and differential GPS for ship positioning by satellite; electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS) and automatic ship identification system (AIS) that ensure safe navigation and
ship operation; and color CCTV system in the engine room, which includes an alarm function in case of fire for monitoring from the wheelhouse and the engine control room.
The VLCC has overal length of 333.00 meters, length between perpendiculars of 324.00meters, beam of 60.00 meters, draught of 28.80 meters and 20.90 meters. The deadweight of YUFUSAN is 311,389 metric tons and gross tonnage of 160,216 gross tons.

Oil Tanker Rio Genoa

Rio Genoa
Rio Genoa is the newly built motor vessel of Universal Shipbuilding Corporation made for the company Pine Maritime Corporation at the Ariake Shipyard. The vessel has a deadweight of 159,395 metric tons, the length of the ship is 276.88m, the width of 50.00m and the depth is 22.40m. The Gross Tonnage of the vessel is 83,722 metric tons, and these large measurements are moved by main engine MAN B&W 6S70MC-C. The full power of the main engine is enough for the vessel to reach a speed of 15.25 knots.
The vessel Rio Genoa has a larger deadweight with 50m beam than the conventional Suezmax. A larger cargo volume is provided for the main Suezmax unloading ports in the Gulf of Mexico, the water depth of which is very shallow.
The vessel uses the Surf-Bulb (Rudder Fin with Bulb) that achieves very high energy saving. Furthermore, the bow above the water-line of the vessel is shaped as the Ax-Bow that can reduce the added wave resistance at sea.
The vessel was designed to meet recent IMO rules, such as PMA (Permanent Means of Access) and pump room bottom protection. The main engine is a MAN B&W 6S70MC-C and a low sulfur fuel oil tank is provided for SOX emission control. The vapor emission control system is installed to prevent emissions of VOC (volatile organic compound) into the atmosphere at loading and unloading. The vessel has three cargo pumps, and the Auto Eductor Stripping System is provided for easy cargo handling. A cargo-heating system is provided in the cargo oil tanks to carry various kinds of cargo oil.
